SYNOPSIS
A continuation of
Lessons from Summer School, beginning with how
we quit our jobs, sold our possessions, and moved permanently aboard
our trawler Summer School to pursue life aboard our boat as long as
money and health permitted. The focus is on describing our boating
adventures and experiences while we traveled on this boat and lived at
various places along the east coast and both coasts of Florida; how we
developed a life-style founded on independence, self-sufficiency and
simplicity; how we tried to nourish our lives of the mind and the body;
how we coped when we started to run out of money; how we dealt with a
continuing array of health problems including Dave's gastric ulcer,
abdominal aortic aneurysm and continuing battle with leukemia that
resulted in a near-fatal hospitalization shortly after Nancy was
diagnosed and treated for breast cancer; and, finally, how we ended our
boating life with one last magnificent cruise of Chesapeake Bay in the
fall.
